Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island called West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that it's an island that's in the west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of Lachine west to the City of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently cited, however her short visit to the West Island did not last long. Brugel grew to be an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to an explosive increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I grew out of my male partners, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing into acting. For Brugel, it was her drama teacher who nudged her into this path. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the leading role of Anne of Green Gables. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. For the last twenty years, her work has been seen on both the large and small screen. The most notable was her attention when she won her part as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character Rita in the Handmaid's Tale the series filmed over ten years ago.
